It features an adaptation of Edouard Manet's (French, 1832-1883) painting The Funeral (ca. 1867) in exceptional detail, digitally printed across the entire garment. This unfinished oil painting in The Met collection is thought to depict the funeral of the writer Charles Baudelaire, which took place on September 2, 1867, at the foot of the Butte Mouffetard in southwest Paris. Manet was among the few mourners, who are framed by the towers and cupolas of the Val de Grâce, the Panthéon, Saint-Etienne-du-Mont, and the Tour de Clovis rising in the background. The painting's moody olives and textural neutrals speak to Todd Snyder's color palette.
