Founded 1896 as the Swamp Angels, the Mud Hens era began in 1945. Based in Ohio, the MUD HENS are the Triple-A farm team of the Detroit Tigers. The team's ballpark was located near marshland inhabited by American Coots, also known as Mud Hens, for this reason the local press dubbed the team the MUD HENS. FUN FACT: The team became internationally famous because of the TV Show M*A*S*H, where the company clerk, named Max Klinger, hailed from Toledo and could often be seen wearing a Mud Hens ballcap and jersey.
