Black wool top hat made by Euro Accessories UK LTD, then customized with black silk ribbons, forming the shapes of flowers and embellished with eyes, and comes with secret Yale lore. Sturdy hat, 100% wool. Nice shape. Perfect for Halloween as it comes with a story. I was working at a clothing shop in New Haven, where we would frequently get Yale students coming in asking for hats. On this particular day, a young lady came in with this black-and-white striped hat box and wanted to sell us her hat. I told her we could not purchase the hat at which point she became exasperated and said in her British accent that she didn’t want the hat that she didn’t want anything to do with the hat and she didn’t want. “ Anything to do with any of this weirdness or cloaks and daggers.“ I took a quick look at the hat and thought it was very interesting. Thought it might be fun to wear to Goth night at the club and said I would take it if she wanted to give it to me. On further investigation, I noticed that it was embroidered by hand with the year 2014 and the inscription “Les fleurs du mal” I personally think she was just pulling a prank on me, she had a few friends with her and it just all seemed too much like a scene. In the end it is a beautifully made hat with very fun steampunk/ goth embellishments.
