It is 22” across the chest and gathered at the neckline...I hope this helps.... should fit 42 bust comfortably and I would say a 44” slightly snug

With the gathers, it would probably work because it is actually 44” and that was done loose but I know how hard it is too find the right fit and be comfortable in it...
