The thread is slightly torn right there but the way the shoes are made, it’s not going to unravel. And where it is torn is up inside shoe where your foot goes so you will never see it.

@letathomas I normally wear a 7.5. These are just a tiny bit too small, not much at all. I wore them a few times but every time I felt a little like my heel was hanging off the back just a bit too much. My foot is also wider and I wish the leather across the top was a little larger (from toe to ankle) so it covers up more of the top of my foot.
