Notes/Description: Traditional Authentic Moroccan Ceramic Serving Tagine Handmade Hand-Painted Pot
Country of manufacturer: Fez, Marrakech Morocco
A tagine is a traditional Moroccan cooking vessel made of ceramic or unglazed clay with a round base and low sides. A cone-shaped cover sits on the base during cooking.
The shape of the tagine lid is not just for decorative purposes. It plays a role in the preparation of the dish called by the same name.
Hand crafted and painted by local artisans from Safi, Morocco. Safi is one of the oldest cities in Morocco and home to the National Museum of Ceramics. It is also the pottery capital of Morocco.
Crafted primarily in small workshops in the hillside Collin des Potiers quarter, using clay extracted from the land, then prepped, molded, dried, painted, and fired all by hand. Each piece is unique, bursting with color and geometric design. The local artisans share their individual gifts in each piece of clay and each stroke of the brush. No two pieces are the same. Whether you’re looking to add some vibrant beauty to your home or a splash of fun and color to serving your meals, these pieces bring in a bit of Safi’s history and magic.
