Traditional Paper Mache Trinket Box

Buttercup yellow and red flowers adorn this beautiful paper mache box. Every visible part of the box except the bottom is filled in with brown branches and lovely green leaves. The bottom and inside of box are a simple black color. A diminutive decorative box, perfect for small personal treasures in the style of Kashmir, crafted of weeping willow wood and covered with paper mache in an art form that originated in Persia in the 15th century. The box is protected inside and out with a coat of lacquer. A few areas where there are wear marks but overall in wonderful vintage condition. The sticker on the black bottom reads Fetco hand made in Kashmir India.
