These were used to stave off neuropathy from chemo infusions. The gel ice packs last about 20-30 minutes which is why we purchased 7 sets.

Hello! May I ask do the sets include the gel packs? You know I thought that the gel packs worked for three hours and you only had to switch them out twice during a six hour infusion? Thanks for the info!

@jimmycat yes, in my description, the ice packs are the gel packs. Each set of socks we bought came with the gel packs. I will update the listing with photos of what comes with each pair of socks.

@lessnj04 Thank you! That really does clarify what each fit includes. May I ask, if it only lasts 30 minutes, what is the solution for a six hour infusion? Can you purchase additional gel packs that might be compatible at Walgreens, etc.?

@jimmycat you have to buy multiple sets, freeze them 24-48 hours prior to chemo infusion, keep them in a cooler with you at the chemo center (they may or may not have a freezer available to store) and swap out each gel pack when they aren’t freezing cold anymore. We kept a timer and I swapped them out for my mom every 30 minutes during a 3+ hour infusion.

@lessnj04 thank you so much for that explanation. That is what I thought. I just wondered if you had to buy the whole sock set in order to get the extra gel packs to swap out during the infusion? I appreciate the information!
