Based on research, "Maya Evangelista began making handbags and Jewelry in 1985 and called her work "by Veni and Maya Evangelista", a mother and daughter team, with a dream. Soon their designs gained the attention of retailers, media, and celebrities. Maya highlights sculpted resin echoing natural forms, textures, and colors. Coordinating pieces carry a distinctive quality with intermingling elements: semiprecious stones, fresh-water pearls, antique plated metals. Recent collections have drawn inspiration from wildlife, poetry, primitive forms, and ‘dug from the earth’ fossilized looks." This hand crafted bag features a leopard print resin body with a weathered look (measures 4.5"x6.5"x3"), a brutalist brown tone metal hinge at the bottom and an ornate magnetic snap closure at the top with an amber colored gem. The detachable strap is brown twisted mesh measuring 30" long. The sides are held together by brown leather straps. I did not clean it for fear of ruining the print, leather or metal. It is in excellent condition. There are no cracks, breaks, chips or repairs. (See photos).
