She did not go to design school, nor did she work at the big fashion houses. Her university was Africa, where she worked for 15 years travelling through the Sahel, Ivory Coast, Benin, Togo and Ghana. This was her introduction into the rich and colourful world of weaving and dyeing. After furthering her knowledge of textile crafts and techniques in India, South-East Asia, and the Andes she launched her eponymous fashion label in 2005 from her home in France's Basque country. Weaving together the different cultures that have enriched her life, Virginie creates garments that are steeped in history, tradition, and sustainability. From block-printed silk dresses, to pearl embroidered shirts, Himalayan pashmina blouses, and Ikat print trousers, Virginie's pieces take us on a journey from Peru to Rahasthan and beyond.
