It is rare 2 find played carpet balls like this 1. There R a few minor chips, which only adds 2 its authenticity & use. This is a larger ball, weighing .40# & measuring approximately 4 ½” N diameter. Decorators today fill wooden bowls with a collection of carpet balls, use them as paperweights or 2 decorate shelves. WHAT IS A CARPET BALL? Carpet balls/bowls originated Scotland late 1700s.
