VINTAGE Bienen-Davis Architectural Dark Red Velvet & Black Leather Handbag

Vintage Bienen-Davis dark red velvet floral pattern flap handbag. This bag was purchased at Steketee’s, a now defunct Michigan department store chain based in Grand Rapids MI. Founded in 1862 with the last store closing in 2003. The inside of the flap is made of black leather. Has an ornate gold tone bar handle on leather straps. Snap button closure. The black satin interior features four open pockets. Two are lined with peach colored satin. In good vintage condition, no obvious signs of wear on the exterior of the bag. The snap closure shows some scratches and works well but is hard to open after snapping closed. There is slight wear on the leather flap and there is damage to the interior structure on the front. It is not visible but is noticeable when the bag is opened. That said, this is a beautiful and unique bag. 9” wide, 7” high, 2” deep, 1 1/2” handle drop. Such a unique and rare beautiful find. Please see photos for details. Estate item in lovely vintage condition. A striking and unusual design from Bienen-Davis is done in a textured velvet with a wonderful golden handle across the top. This bag can be carried as a clutch or a handbag and it works perfectly for day and/or evening. The bag is lined in satin and there are four open pockets inside. Period 1960-1969.
