VINTAGE Lapine 60s Pleated Skirt Long Sleeved Midi Dress, Made in Japan, Size S

Darling 1960's vintage midi dress made in Japan from the Lapine label! This is a gem- not a lot of Lapine vintage dresses are around! The Lapine label began as custom dressmaking and has a history of luxury prêt-à-porter in Japan for over a half-century. Dress has a real "school-girl" feel about it: polyester crepe, navy & white abstract pattern, with a cute white edged notch collar and top stitch detailing. Knife pleats open just below the hip which is always such a flattering silhouette. Long sleeves, button cuffs with white trim and top stitch detailing like the collar. Full skirt, about knee length depending on your height. Marked "9", is about the equivalent of a US 2-4, please see picture with exact measurements. 3 buttons up front and hidden snaps to the middle of dress. Near perfect condition, no belt and middle button doesn't have the metallic inlay piece, but can easily be subbed out by one of the intact cuff buttons. Skirt has rayon lining. I could see this piece doing a Wednesday Addams look or a vintage "ladies who lunch" depending on how it's styled. Second label shows it was being sold in the "Orchid Room" at the Isetan department store in Tokyo, reknown for high fashion.
