During the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, his clientele included Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Joan Crawford, and Dionne Warwick. Icon Andre Courreges designed for him in 1965; he also employed Chester Weinberg, Bill Smith, and Peter Hatsi-Androu. Samuel Robert died in 2001 at the age of 93.
