VINTAGE hand sewn/homemade grey & navy/black grid dress 8/10

Cleaning out my Nanas closet! She sewed so many clothes for so long - including this dress. She was known for her sewing abilities and created a lot of custom clothing for people in her town. This has no tags. A lot of items in her closet were sized as 12 or 14, but since they’re from the 1970s I would consider them a current 8/10. I can take measurements if needed. I think this is very Jackie Kennedy inspired with the scarf at the neck. The only imperfection is the stain that is photographed. I’m worried to wash it (maybe it should be dry cleaned) but it seems like a surface level stain and it very well might come out. Can’t tell if the pattern is black/grey or navy blue/grey.
