Abloh was the artistic director of Louis Viutton's menswear collection beginning in 2018, and was given increased creative responsibilities across the LVMH brand in early 2021. The trojan horse symbolically illustrates Virgil's approach to social and structural infiltration. Virgil believed in change, and the nuance embedded within his work enabled him to tackle contentious ideas with a lighthearted approach. "Figures of Speech" traced Abloh’s exploration of the communicative power of design. His use of language and quotation marks turned his designs, and the people who engaged with them, into literal figures of speech.
