About the Artist:
MARCELLO FANTONI (1915-2011) was an Italian sculptor, ceramicist, metalworker, multi-media artist & designer. He studied ceramics and the arts at the Art Institute of Porta Romana, graduating as a maestro of art in 1934.
In 1936 he opened the Fantoni Ceramic Studio in Florence producing ceramic series, individual pieces, sculptures & furnishings.
In 1970, he founded the International School of Ceramic Art in Florence, dedicated to teaching ceramic arts and experimentation.
