A stunning Florentine picture of woman and child. Made in Italy, Carlo Dolci 1616-1686 was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in Florence, known for highly finished religious pictures, often repeated in many versions. Florentine style crafts have an ornate appearance, and are typically gold gilded, or have gold paint applied to resemble gilding. Decoupage usually includes reproductions of well-known Classical Florentine art works, which may or may not be religious in nature. This is gold leaf over wood.
