VTG Signed Robert Cox Still Life with Rose Oil on Canvas 29 x 25 1970s, Frame Numbered but I cannot make out the number, it is the original frame there is a photograph above of the number so maybe you can make out what it says. My mother bought this from an antique dealer in Germany in the 1970s and we brought it to the USA in 1978. There are a couple dings on the paint itself that is repairable. It came from shipping from Europe to the United States. the frame is original and is an excellent condition there's no staining just 2 scratches from the shipping process, "see"photos" Born on July 14th, 1934 in Mt Holly, New Jersey, Cox studied at the Katharine Gibbs School of Art from 1953 until 1956 and then joined Mayhew Peakes Inc. as a graphic designer. He resigned in 1962 and moved to California, where he married Marjorie Cox in 1966. He found much inspiration for his floral paintings in California and became one of the most prolific painters of the 1970s and 1980s. He employed the palette knife to create his stylized flowers, often selling his paintings for little money because he believed that original art should be available for the general public to enjoy. Cox was a founder member of the Art Workers Coalition and very active in promoting the rights of artists.
