VTG- W. Germany- Ornate Black Onyx Cabochon Brooch Set in Brass

This beautiful example of Western Germany pierced brass filigree, floral findings with Topaz Colored Crystals is a true work of art. I know that I mention wearable art frequently but, adornment is just that. A form of unique expression and craftsmanship that is both historical and beautiful. It features a large flat back oval cabochon set on Gilt Brass Filigree and surrounded by a beautiful wreath of brass floral and pierced metalwork findings with added crystals to boot. This piece is an older piece as evident by the pin extending beyond the clasp. It looks like a Miriam Haskell piece or DeMario, and is signed Made in Western Germany on a raised circular cartouche on the back. A+ for design A+ for Craftsmanship A+ for wearability and durability A+ for unique design A+ for materials used This is a fine example of an ornate mourning brooch that just blows my mind. It’s weighted without being too heavy and would look lovely on a necklace as a pendant, or as an added decorative piece of adornment. Highly collectible and uniquely designed. Color me impressed! I would love to know the creator of this beauty. It’s likely from the 1920s or 1930s, pre-WWII. Wow!
