In his quest for the ultimate Chinese glazing colors, Artus Van Briggle created this gorgeous Ming blue matte. It remained one of the single most popular of his glazes with firing at about 30% of the potteries' creations over the years. I believe this pot to be from around the 1940s using the clay, glaze, and Van Briggle incision at the bottom. I could be wrong, but I do not believe that I am. Acorns and Leaves was also one of the most popular forms. Van Briggle continues to awe and delight collectors everywhere. As one of the contemporaries of Rookwood, Weller, and Fulper, Van Briggle managed to remain in art pottery until around 2017.
