tonyat847 I bought one of these bracelets, and it has stampings, a nice box, and some kind of authenticity card. I wish poshmark would stop allowing this to happen. I don’t know why posh expects their customers to determine authenticity. I’ve since reported hundreds of these listings, and they don’t do anything but let users judge whether it’s fake. And if the listing is taken down after you buy it, posh let’s the sale go through and never informs the buyer they bought a fake.

altonfamily @tonyat847 I am interested to know was it over $500, so did it go though authentication?
Apr 30Reply
tonyat847
tonyat847 @altonfamily no, it was like $200 or so. Apparently now they aren’t even authenticating everything over $500 though. I bought some Prada boots from a seller that shipped them directly to me without going through posh due to having sold previously authenticated things.

altonfamily @tonyat847 I asked because I have heard Poshmark has made mistakes in authentication. Passing things that are very good knockoffs and by the time you find out the error it is too late. So what did the bracelet that you got look like, any stampings or markings?
Apr 30Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @tonyat847 I only purchase things I know are 100% authentic. I ask a lot of questions. I usually don’t buy things that were not purchased by the seller. If they are reselling for others I stay away too easy to get duped. That is why everything in my closet is mine or mothers so I know exact where it came from.

vane_ps
vane_ps People need to see that authentic VC&A will never retail for $200 even when used. If you see any kind of listing of this sort please report.
Jul 14Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @vane_ps This is exactly why I put this listing up to try and educate people about VCA. I have one VCA necklace, so I compare all of the markings and hallmarks also it came with a completed certificate. I laugh when I see the listings with the blank certificates, so fake.

babyboo324
babyboo324 If they have a certificate and paper work should I trust that it’s authentic?
Oct 26Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @babyboo324 The certificate needs to. be completely filled out and has a seal at the bottom. The certificate will have the date of purchase as well as the location. If not completed this way it is fake. Price should be in line and jewelry should have all stampings. Also if you live somewhere that has a Neiman Marcus they can probably tell you if it is authentic because they use to sell VCA in the fine jewelry department.

babyboo324
babyboo324 @altonfamily thank you for taking the time to respond.
Oct 27Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @babyboo324 No problem anything selling by fortrove or shopmygemma should be legit because they are resellers with their own websites. Just be careful of other sellers on here. Look at how long they have been on Poshmark, check out their closet do they have other designer listings and check out their love notes which are reviews. If all of these things check out item is probably authentic. Also I am carefully about sellers that can’t provide Providence.
Oct 27Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @babyboo324 By providence I mean are they the original owner of the item

chanelbae14 That is not true! Please stop misinformation also being a Posh Ambassador. Some people genuinely want to “get rid of things” for personal reasons and/or need the money for personal reasons! Not everyone can afford a $1500 bracelet or more.
Jan 27Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @chanelbae14 This is posted because there are sellers misleading buyers and trying to pass off replicas as real. As an Ambassador I think it is important for buyers to be informed the ultimate decision is up to them. I know people are clearing out closets but no seller would list real VCA for under $500 retail starts around $1450.
Jan 27Reply
chanelbae14
chanelbae14 @altonfamily and I understand that however I’m selling a ring I simply don’t want for $685 so you’re telling me my ring is a “replica?” Because I listed it for such price? If it was fake Van Cleef in Midtown Miami would have kept it and discarded it! Except they did not! I just want it gone very simple and straight to the point. Thank God for Posh Authentication as well! I just saw a girl on here selling a Birkin in which she tried to sell to me and it was deemed “a fake” yet she sold it on
Jan 27Reply
chanelbae14
chanelbae14 @altonfamily Posh! I reported her several times and posh never took off her positing! I still have the certificate where it says it’s a fake Birkin so I’m hoping that person who thinks got a real Birkin gets her mone back and I hope Posh authenticated that as well
Jan 27Reply
chanelbae14
chanelbae14 @altonfamily being a Posh ambassador I truly don’t feel comfortable with that girl who sold that fake Birkin! How can I send them a copy of my Cert of Fraud for the Birkin she sold to someone else?
Jan 27Reply
chanelbae14
chanelbae14 @altonfamily she even told the girl offline like outside of posh
Jan 27Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @chanelbae14 Absolutely not saying it is a replica what you are selling is over $500 and would go through authentication. The issue I have is with the people listing bracelets that retail for $4500 for $200. They often use real pictures to sell fakes. I have heard from several people that were duped into thinking they were getting something real. The necklace that sells for over $20,000 someone selling one for a few $100
Jan 27Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @chanelbae14 Yes the fakes are a big issue that is my gripe. Unfortunately you have to do your own homework. Someone on here bought a LV purse for almost $2000 it was authenticated on here she took it to LV store and it turned out to be a really good fake. So authentication is not foolproof.
Jan 27Reply
chanelbae14
chanelbae14 @altonfamily sadly but I know she’s getting duped! I tagged on the bag it was an absolute fake I wish I got my money back for having it Authenticated. She has the same pics on OfferUp
Jan 27Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @chanelbae14 You can do what I have done when you know someone has an obvious replica send an email to Poshmark with the sellers name and attach a picture of the item. This has worked. There use to be over 300 replica VCA items and they finally took action after I sent several emails. It was so bad that you couldn’t even get to the real items because there were so many fakes. That’s why I created the post I was fed up.
Jan 27Reply
chanelbae14
chanelbae14 @altonfamily I’ll send them an email but she sold the bag just yesterday
Jan 27Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @chanelbae14 That is terrible that she did that but yea if it’s sold not much you can do. If you know who the buyer is you can try and contact them to get the bag authenticated independently because she has 3 days to file a complaint.
Jan 27Reply
chanelbae14
chanelbae14 @altonfamily yeah I just messaged all of them so I hope they can cancel
Jan 27Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @chanelbae14 Too late to cancel it has to be immediately or buyer and seller have to agree to cancel. I just had that recently where I agreed with buyer to cancel an order because the buyer told me there was a problem with her credit card. We both contacted Poshmark and they allowed us to cancel. Then she got the issue resolved she came back and purchased the item.

foxyoxy
foxyoxy Thanks so much for this post. Honestly I don’t understand why people even buy these pieces on here. Most are listed for more $$ than the actual store prices. So really your not getting the best price and a possibility of a fake item.
Feb 25Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @foxyoxy You are so right either the prices are so cheap that they are fake or the sellers are asking above retail for pieces you can still find in store. I understand that Poshmark takes 20% but still I am not going to pay over retail price. This is a secondary market and as such prices should reflect that.
Feb 25Reply
foxyoxy
foxyoxy @altonfamily my thoughts exactly ❤️
Feb 25Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @foxyoxy only except on pricing is vintage or items you cannot find and are highly sought after. Otherwise it should be priced accordingly. Then you have the buyers who want you to sell your stuff at ridiculously low prices and to them I say this is not Goodwill.
Feb 25Reply
tonypreston
tonypreston @tonyat847 I made the same mistakes and i truly wish Posh would filter out these fake shyt and/or penalize these sellers for scamming people.

altonfamily @tonypreston I am curious to know your story what happened, if you don’t mind me asking?

ashleysea206
ashleysea206 I’ve seen a recent influx of closets with a bunch of screen printed t-shirts and a few VCA pieces mixed in those listings. All of the pieces are a few hundred dollars and of course the sellers claim they are authentic. 🙄
Apr 24Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @ashleysea206 It is crazy and often it is a closet full of designer replicas or like you said some junky items and then VCA real cheap. People need to get educated about the prices and stop buying these fakes
Apr 24Reply
ashleysea206
ashleysea206 @altonfamily check out cindylouparrot 🤦🏼‍♀️ claiming their VCA is authentic. I’ve already been blocked for warning people on their listings.
Apr 24Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @ashleysea206 Thanks for letting me know she will probably block me for commenting once they do that I just message the person directly. I reported her and did it multiple times. That seems to work usually repeat about 10 times and they are shut down most of the time within a reasonable amount of time. The joke is retail prices she posted are too low and certificates are blank. She has the gall to say they are authentic most of the scammers don’t communicate.

anascloset143
anascloset143 @tonyat847 hey hunny, I’m so shocked they didn’t help you… I sold something over $500 and it was sent to the posh Headquarters for authentication. It stayed there for 3 days and then moved on. Maybe this is new? Idk but I’d be so upset if they didn’t do it ALL the time and only like randomly did it..
Jun 28Reply
anascloset143
anascloset143 @vane_ps true! & if it’s 499 that’s 10000% the seller trying to pass their fake item past the $500 inspection!!
Jun 28Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @anascloset143 definitely all of the replica designer items that are new below $500 are not authentic. Not just jewelry that includes designer handbags and such. Buyers need to realize real items that are $2000 don’t sell for $300
Jun 28Reply
nycminimalist
nycminimalist Thank you for bringing awareness to this! If it sounds too good to be true, it's probably not true VCA !
Jul 31Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @nycminimalist Exactly just trying to help buyers and educate people. Many people do not know how expensive Van Cleef & Arpels really is. Some people use real pictures to sell fakes. The cheapest item at VCA is just a plain thin chain for $700 or a plain ring for $710, bracelets start around $1500 and earrings start at over $2000.
Aug 01Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @judysoltow Exactly I want to know where items were purchased, is the seller the original owner or are they selling it for someone else. With VCA no certificate of authenticity I would not buy. Serial number should match certificate. If the seller has receipt even better.

Jul 25Reply
msjgrayscloset
msjgrayscloset @altonfamily mine had real pictures and also said it was not authentic and it was inspired and you reported it. Just seems like you are upset that you have competition.
Jul 25Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @msjgrayscloset wow did not realize that informing and educating people makes me a bad person
Jul 25Reply
msjgrayscloset
msjgrayscloset @altonfamily it does not. Hunting down people who don’t list things the way you like means you have some bad character traits. I understand trying to “fool” people. That is wrong! But when you clearly list this is not a VC this is inspired. And YOU report that listing, That is foul!
Jul 25Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @msjgrayscloset I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, I do not work for Poshmark and have no control over removed listings. If a listing was removed it was because it did not comply with Poshmark rules not just because it was reported. Designer inspired listings are allowed if designer name is not used.
Jul 25Reply
ashleysea206
ashleysea206 the scammers are hacking ambassador accounts now because poshmark rarely suspends ambassador accounts. Now, they can get away with the scam for months. I've seen at least 10 "ambassador" accounts this week with fake VCA. All of the seller's normal listings are marked not for sale.
Nov 13Reply
altonfamily
altonfamily @ashleysea206 I am so sick of all these fakes. People are buying them for just under $500 so no authentication. When will buyers realize it’s an immediate red flag. I wonder what these people are getting sent
