Vermont's Basketville NANTUCKET BASKET Faux Nantucket Harbor by Linda Layden

Gorgeous lidded Creel Nantucket Basket which is vintage new with tag and care insert. This is a rare offering which shows Nantucket Harbor at the turn of the century by noted artist Linda Layden signed lower left. Nantucket baskets are no longer being made by Basketville, Vermont. Nathan Taylor was the basket consultant in the creation of these ash baskets. In fact, White Ash trees are in danger because of the Emerald Ash BorerBeetle which is destroying New England forest of ash trees. Basketville makes a tightly woven, quality basket which is 9" wide and 7" high and 5" deep. The leather strap is 18" from top to the basket. This creel special edition has a neat wooden, springloaded latch that snaps into place on the lid. I was a scrimshander back in the 80s and 90s.
