5 Very Rare 1800’s L.Hjorth Bornholm Figurines Figurines made of terra cotta from the 1800’s, in excellent condition, well marked, no chips or scratch’s. Women are 4 inches&men are 4 1/2 inches. The Hjorth factory was founded in 1859 in Roenne on Bornholm, an island off Denmark. Lauritz Hjorth was a trained potter. In the beginning production consisted of utilitarian terra cotta pieces. By 1880 pieces were being sold in dept stores in Paris, London&as far as USA & Australia.
