To tell stingray from leather, or faux, heat a large safety pin till tip is hot, and on one of the light color beads, touch the hot tip and sniff. If it is stingray nothing will happen because the white beads are made of calcium. If it is leather the pin will burn through, and will smell like leather, if faux will smell like plastic.
