History:
Unmarked, but attributed to Little Nemo (LN). This piece can be found in Collectible Costume Jewelry Identification & Values by Cherri Simonds.
Jewelry historians have established that Little Nemo was a subsidiary of Brier Manufacturing Company (1913-1978), a notable costume jewelry company based in Providence, Rhode Island.
While Brier Manufacturing produced jewelry for various brands, Little Nemo became one of their well-known lines. The name "Little Nemo" was inspired by the comic strip "Little Nemo in Slumberland" by Winsor McCay that ran from 1905 to 1926 in the New York Herald and the New York American.
Jewelry by Little Nemo was often sold attached to paper cards or with foil hang tags leaving the product unmarked once those items were separated from the piece. When this jewelry is marked, the pieces are usually stamped with the letters L and N, sometimes with the numbers 25 or 50, in one of several different ways.
Little Nemo jewelry gained recognition for its high-quality craftsmanship and intricate designs, often incorporating rhinestones, enamel work, and colorful glass stones and distinctive "Czech look".
