Vintage Hemingray 10 Clear Glass Insulator for Double Wire
This is a nice Hemingray clear glass insulator. It is made of molded glass with internal molded threading (to screw on power pole) with two wire grooves. It has raised lettering which reads "HEMINGRAY - 10" and "MADE IN U.S.A. ##-42.".
Condition: Great vintage condition with no cracks or chips. Insulator has been used. See photos for details.
Size: Approximately 3.25" (8.26 cm) tall, 2.45" (6.22 cm) diameter at base
Note: Hemingray was founded in 1848 by two partners, Robert Hemingray & Ralph Gray. Moving their glassworks across the river from Cincinnati in Covington, KY in 1852, the company went through a series of names, ultimately incorporating in 1870 as the Hemingray Glass Co. They were making insulators at least as early as the 1880s. In 1933, Hemingray Glass Co. was sold to the Owens-Illinois Glass Co., and the last Hemingray insulators were produced in 1957.
This vintage glass insulator would make a fun desk paper weight, planter, or craft project.
