Vintage 1940s Rayon Crepe Dress

Open to offers Love this dress and love the color. It was one of my favs but I just don’t wear it enough so would love to pass it along. See photos bc I removed the silk chiffon decor due to it starting to fall apart. This came from the UK. “A very unusual vintage 1940s dress, apparently home-made or dressmaker-made to a high standard using a rayon crepe fabric in a vibrant ultramarine blue. The dress has a high V neckline, fairly broad, strongly-padded shoulders, & novel appliquéd, padded decoration in a kind of diamond chain-link pattern running around the upper bodice & sleeves. The skirt is flared, with a narrow gathered inset panel at the right front with a further appliquéd diamond above which is decorated with a tiny false hanky, & another inset panel at the back to enhance the drape. The sleeves are long & fitted, with self-covered button fastenings at the cuffs; there is a very unusual "Spiral" brand metallic coil-type zip fastener at the back from the neck to the waist seam - n.b. the waist seam sits lower at the back than the front, so there is no need for another opening. Bust: 19" (48cm) Waist: 15 1/4" (38.5cm) Hips approx.: 22" (56 cm) Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 16" (40.5 cm) Sleeve length shoulder to cuff: 23 1/2" (59.5 cm) Length nape to waist: 16" (40.5cm) Length nape to hem: 40" (101.5cm)”
