Vintage 1940s Rayon Dress

Downsizing my vintage collection Description 1940s rayon dress in basic black with not-so-basic details. Gorgeous use of the bias cut and suggestive draping- our dressmaker's mannequin does not do this beauty justice! The square neckline has fabric that drapes around the collar & is gathered on one side. There's a bit of a weight to keep the collar down. Short sleeves that are cut loosely thru the shoulders with large shoulder pads. (also I think these shoulder pads were basted in later- they are from a more modern material) Darts at the bust in the front and a gorgeous bow that hugs the back of the waist to the hip on one side. The skirt is a sort of wrap that drapes from the waist in overlapping panels. Unlined. Hems finished with bias tape. The dress fastens at the waist with a metal crown zipper. Designer: unknown Fabric: cold rayon Color: black Condition: Pre-owned in excellent condition. There is one small hole in the bodice & the bow needs to be tacked down. Size: medium, will fit up to a 29" waist Measurements: (taken flat and doubled when appropriate. Please allow for a 1/2 to 2-inch inch variance, or better yet, compare with a similar fitting garment.
