Vintage 1940s rainbow stripe ballgown. Handmade/couture. Size S/XS. Rare find!🌈

This is a once in a lifetime find. 1940s ballgown in excellent, wearable condition. No labels inside, this was handmade. There are a few flaws - this dress is 80+ years old! The straps probably need some reinforcement before wearing, and there are a few stains, none of which are noticeable enough to detract from wear. The stains in the skirt are hidden in the pleats. They may come out with professional care. (See detail pics.) This dress originally had hook and eye closures down the side but I replaced them with a side zipper when I wore it. The belt sits at the natural waist, the skirt has a slight drop waist effect. You could add a crinoline slip to accentuate the volume of the pleated skirt but I don’t think that’s necessary. The fabric is a hefty twill. I believe it’s silk but I’m not 100% sure! Measurements lying flat: Pit to pit: 14.5” (pleating and darts allow for more room in the bust though) Natural waist: 13.5” Skirt seam: 14” Hips: full Length from shoulder to hem: 59” Length from center bodice to drop waist seam: 9” I am 5’6” and a size 2/4. I stood on my tiptoes to model this in the pics. Will provide more measurements upon request. Serious questions and offers only, please.
