Vintage 1950s 1st Ed. Book "Journey Cake, Ho!" by Ruth Sawyer

Edition picture book from the 1950s, "Journey Cake, Ho!" by Ruth Sawyer, illustrated by Robert McCloskey (The Viking Press, New York, 1953). This book is very old and therefore, is in overall, fair condition considering it's age. Boards are soiled and worn at the corners. The illustrated back cover page is stuck to end page-tears. However it is readable, and the text pages are mostly clean w/a few smudges that don't interfere w/it's legibility. Fabulous illustrations by Robert McCloskey (Ruth Sawyer's son in law) of a fun regional re-telling of the Gingerbread Boy story. Ruth Sawyer (1880-1970) was an American writer of both, fiction & non fiction, for both adults & children. The book is inscribed w/the name, 'Debbie'... possibly previous owner? This was previously part of the Weekly Reader Children's Book Club. A really cool piece of history and a wonderful book to pass down to future generations to come.
