Vintage 1950’s Henri Bendel Girl’s Party Dress In Pink Organza With Wide Sash Size 4 Pleated Front Bodice
This precious little girl's dress is from our large collection of vintage children's clothing.
So soft and beautiful.
Henri Bendel was a 5th Ave., small women’s department store in Manhattan. It’s eponymous owner started with his own designs, later imported French fashion as well as made copies. When Geraldine Stutz took over in the late 50’s, she created the concept of boutiques within a store, then a radical idea, and the merchandise became more hip and profits increased. The store had a total of 23 outlets at one time, but was closed in 2018/2019 due to a number of reasons.
This dress with its 50’s label, was purchased by my mom to wear to the Hawaiian Room in New York City for my birthday and is in fantastic condition. Made of pink cotton organdy, it is a classic 50’s silhouette: fitted bodice, full, gathered skirt and is sleeveless.
The dress is sheer. There is a pink slip, white lace around neckline, hem and arms with a petticoat underneath it. The label reads: Exclusive of Ornamentation RN 21468 Size 4.
The front bodice is shaped by darts and the skirt is very full and gathered with an almost 6” hem.
The neckline is round and is trimmed in white lace.
A woven trim of rosy red flowers and green leaves decorates the front waist and left front neckline. Back bodice has a five button opening down to natural waist. Buttons for back closure are vintage
