1950s nylon stockings Cost $1.35 at time of sale, consistent with 1950 pricing 1 boxes with 3 pairs Box Listed Color: Cinnamon Stick Size: 8.5 Brand: Humming Bird by Davenport Hosiery Mills Nylon thread supplied by DuPont Co Fiber/Care: all nylon, hand wash It’s really hard to track down information on Davenport Hosiery Mills, Founded May 1919 working in silk 1920 start selling Humming Bird stockings In 1939 they were the first Nylon hosiery company and created the process to make nylon stockings The company was gone by 1966 when the plant was purchased and converted to a printing press for a newspaper The last ads I can find for the company are from 1959  Condition- These have been worn, and appeared to be at least two different colors. It looks as though the original owner stored multiple pairs of stockings in the same box. Still has the original box paper, and box  Remember these are gartered stockings and require garters. They do not stretch like modern hosiery. These stockings do not have a seam. They have a reinforced heel and toe.
