Vintage Schiaparelli Black Half-Hat ~ 1950s Sequin & Bead Applique' over Pleated Silk Satin Side Detailing This lovely half-hat, designed by Schiaparelli in the early 1950s, is made of the finest French fur felt that has a supple velvety velour feel and look. It is a close-fitting half-hat with a curved front and sits down on the forehead when worn. On the side is a hand embroidered sequin and bead applique' over a rosette made of black silk satin with individual “puffs” pleated and tacked down over one ear. Looks like a hat Jane Russell or Marilyn Monroe would wear in “How to Marry a Millionaire”. Label – Schiaparelli Paris Second Label - 22” (headsize) Pre-owned and in very good condition. The black fur felt shows no loss of color or damage - the same goes for the black silk satin side detail. All sequins and beads are intact and secure. Stored in a smoke-free, pet free home – stored in a climate-controlled environment.
