Vintage 1950s Signed Napier Book Piece Blue Moonglow Modernist Necklace

1950s modernist silvertone and blue moonglow necklace with hook clasp. Marked "Napier." Condition: Excellent Size: 6.5 inches long by 5 inches wide. Interior circumference about 15 1/2 inches. A goldtone and brown moonglow version of this necklace is shown on pg. 272 of Melinda L. Lewis & Henry Swen's book, "The Napier Co.: Defining 20th century American Costume Jewelry." Vintage Napier jewelry was made in Meridan, Connecticut and is very high quality and desirable. In the 1950s, jewelry by Napier was worn by celebrities including Marilyn Monroe, Doris Day, Mamie Eisenhower and Miss America. A necklace sold by Napier in the 1980s or 1990s could cost $100 or more. The plant in Meridan was closed in 2000 and the company sold in 2002, so while the company name still exists, the jewelry is now mass produced.
