Vintage 1966 Lloyd C Stark Nurseries Signed Missouri Governor Historical Booklet

Vintage September 1966 softcover booklet entitled “The Stark Story: Stark Nurseries 150th Anniversary” by Dickson Terry. A Special publication of The Bulletin, published by the Missouri Historical Society. Illustrated throughout. Page 88 of this booklet is autographed by Lloyd C. Stark. It is inscribed “Best Regards to Kenneth E. Crouch, Lloyd C. Stark Gov of MO 1932-1941”. This signature has NOT been authenticated. This item is from from the estate of Kenneth E. Crouch, who acquired an extensive collection of autographs related to United States senators. “Lloyd Crow Stark (1886-1972) was an American businessman and politician who served as the 39th Governor of the U.S. state of Missouri. He was a member of the Democratic Party. Stark was a 1908 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. After serving four years as a naval officer, Stark went into the family business, the Stark Brothers' Nursery, as vice-president and general manager. He was a major in the US Army during World War I. During his volunteer stint, Stark served in the United States and France, including the 1918 Meuse-Argonne Offensive.” 94 pages. Staple binding. Measures approximately 6 x 9-1/4 inches. Condition is used. There is overall wear to front and back covers and spine, including edge wear, tearing, soiling and creasing due to age and use.
