Vintage 1967 signed Kalevala Koru "Teljänneito" brooch Finland 916 silver Silver (purity 916 - not quite sterling) brooch, approx. 1.5" long and .75" high (3.2 x 1.9 cm). It has a C-clasp. The pin is slightly bent but still fully functional and stays closed well. The "Teljänneito" (Maiden from Teljä) design by Germund Paaer was one of Kalevala Koru's more popular mid-20th-century designs, and was used for rings, pendants, brooches and earrings. This piece has several marks. I can't make out the first one. The second is a crown, which indicates that it is made in Finland. The third says "916H" which is the silver purity (H = hopea, the Finnish word for silver). The next I believe is the Helsinki city mark, then "O7" for the year 1967, and finally the Kalevala Koru logo, lower-case "kk" inside a circle.
