1968 Uncirculated "Irish Lucky Penn" Copper Coin Ring. Size 11. The last year of minting of this coin and it ceased to be legal tender on Dec. 31, 1971. Giving a "Lucky Penny" is a very old Irish tradition. original coin features the word "eire", the Irish name of Ireland, with the date and the Irish Harp. The flip side of the coin has the tender "pingin" meaning Penny with a Hen and 5 Chicks. The coin measures 1.215" in diameter and is made of 95.5 Copper. Copper is known to have healing benefits for aches and pains but as Indian Legend claims, Copper is also known for its Spiritual ability to keep all kinds of Evil at bay and Bless you with Positivity and Wealth. For these reasons, the ring has been left in its original form and not coated or sprayed with clearcoat. I may wear a color on your finger (easily washes off) and doesn't happen to everyone. If you're not after the benefits of Copper, you may simply coat the inside of the ring with clear nail polish. My husband has been making coin rings for 6 years now. He has made custom ordered rings out of many different coins from all over the world. We ordered a roll of these for the Copper benefit as well as for Saint Patrick's Day Celebrations. The ring in the pictures is the one you will be receiving.
