Vintage Swiss made Tourneau women's / ladies quartz wristwatch with mechanical movement. Purchased directly from Tourneau's flagship store on Madison Avenue in Manhattan / NYC in 1979. Comes in original box (pictured). The watch face measures 20mm / 0.75 in across, features Roman numerals, and reads "Tourneau" and "Swiss Made." The case is 18K yellow gold with marks (described below). The crown / winder is genuine sapphire. The band is original to the watch, genuine crocodile leather marked "Tourneau" on the inside. It measures 9mm (0.35 in) wide, and 185mm (7.25 in) long not including buckle or 195mm (7.75 in) including buckle.
The back of the watch case has several marks. The "18K 750" mark indicates that the watch case contains 18 karat gold with a purity of 75%. The "marteau sans manche" (hammer head without handle) mark indicates a Swiss gold watch case made outside of Geneva, and the number "161" inside the hammer head indicates watchmaker Joseph Erard in Le Noirmont, Switzerland. The six-digit "304201" mark is the serial number.
PLEASE NOTE: The watch is in good, used, vintage condition. It still functions beautifully, ticking away quietly. There are mild scratches / scuffs on the outer glass of the watch face. On the inside of the band the Tourneau mark is visible but the other markings (reading "Deluxe ___" and "Royal ___") have faded. The leather is bent / worn in some places from standard use and the color on the buckle is also worn in places.
