Rawhide Kid #143, published by Marvel Comics in January 1978, is part of the long-running western series featuring the adventures of the Rawhide Kid, also known as Johnny Bart. In this issue, the Rawhide Kid retells his origin story to a character named Chita, who notices he has a star-shaped birthmark. This leads him to discover that he has a brother named Frank Clay, who was separated from him during a wagon train raid. The issue also introduces another brother, Joe Clay, and explores their reunion and the Kid's adventures with his newfound family.
Marvel Premiere #54: The Coming of Caleb Hammer was published in June 1980. This issue introduces the enigmatic character Caleb Hammer, a bounty hunter and Pinkerton agent with a tragic past. The story is set in the town of Manacle, Wyoming, where Caleb arrives and is quickly challenged to a gunfight by a young gunman. Throughout the issue, we learn about Caleb's history, including his time training as a priest, his tragic loss of his wife, and his decision to become a Pinkerton agent. The narrative is filled with flashbacks that reveal Caleb's motivations and the events that shaped his life.
