Vintage 1980s Abstract Tie (Stringbeans plus+)

Reposhing this item I purchased from @dhudson0001. I wore it to a 1980s/90s themed event and got loads of compliments. This tie is from the "Stringbeans...plus+" line of wider ties manufactured in Los Angeles by Superba in the mid-1980s, and retailed for around $35 (equivalent to nearly $100 today). Its fun and abstract style was specifically marketed to men under 30. Superba was a US necktie manufacturer, founded in 1873 in New York as H.C. Cohn & Co, and became Superba in 1908. In the late 70s it moved to Los Angeles as it became more popular with Hollywood celebrities. The L.A. factory was entirely hand made in the 80s, and manufactured designer ties as well as their own lines, including Bugatti, Halston, and Michael Kors. Superba was purchased by Philips Van Heusen in 2006. Length: 56" Width: 3 3/4" Color: Navy, overlayed with muted teal, green, yellow, and purple abstract, paint-like shapes.
