Vintage 1980's Arnart Fragonard Style Courting Couple Trinket Tray Plate Decor

Intricately painted gold accents and gold edge on a porcelain plate featuring a Royal Vienna love story in the center of the plate Measures approx.: 4.5" Diameter x .5" H Beehive mark on the underside 11/276 - mark of Arnart Imports The courting couples were inspired from the work of artist Jean Honore Fragonard (1732-1806). Fragonard was a French painter of the Rococo style who was popular in the latter half of the 18th Century, around the time of Marie Antoinette, Louis XV and Louis XVI. Rococo painters featured pastoral landscapes and incorporated in their painting's myths of love, cherubs, cupids, Venus and mythical creatures. Portraiture was very popular among the Rococo painters and featured aristocratic courting couples on leisurely outings.
