Vintage 1986 Krewe of Hyacinthian Cloisonne Doubloon

Theme of 1986 was Fairy Tales. Est in 1951 an all women club Great for collectors. Mardi Gras doubloons are about the size of an old silver dollar, with some exceptions. Usually, they are round, but other shapes have been appearing, and are becoming more popular. The doubloons thrown from a parade are often aluminum, and may be colored or not. Heavies come in bronze and oxidized silver, which is a bronze doubloon covered with silver oxide. Also, multis, which are multicolored versions of doubloons, are much more ornate, and worth collecting. Some are colorized on both sides, others are colored on only one side. Some have thin colorful plates attached to bronze doubloons, others are enameled. Less common are copper doubloons. Duals are two color doubloons, and may be heavies or aluminum. They are also collectible.
