Vintage 22K Weeping Gold Swan Planter By Swetye Ceramics Of Salem Ohio MCM, from the 1950s Measures 7" long and 3.5" wide. It is about 4.5" high. The inner opening is 2 7/8" wide x 3 1/8" long. A vintage gold swan planter or vase made by the Swetye Ceramic Artware Co. Of Salem, Ohio circa 1950. This swan has her neck gracefully dipped down and slightly tilted to one side. This swan has a textured 22k gold exterior and a cream colored interior. The piece is richly decorated in the weeping gold style with layers of gold droplets. As the gold pattern is textured in places, it has both glossy and matte sections giving it the appearance of feathers or of shading on her feathers. The bottom is hallmarked - see photos. It is in excellent used vintage condition with no chips, cracks, scratches, or crazing.  Joseph Swetye, born Dec 17, 1924, was the founder and owner of Swetye Ceramic Artware in Salem , Ohio in 1946. He began his company after he returned from WWII. The company was known for gold, silver and other finishes on their ceramic pieces that distinguished them from the competition.  The description includes all details I have about the piece.
