Vintage '40s MCM Shawnee Smiley USA Figural Hand Painted Pig Creamer Pitcher A sweet pottery pig creamer from Shawnee. The ivory color creamer is decorated (under-glaze) with a peachy pink flower and deep green leaves. Painted toes, nose, ears and eyelashes complete her. Circa late 1940’s. Back mark incised under-glaze, “PATENTED – Smiley – USA”. Measures 5 inches long (nose to tail handle) x 3-1/4 wide (ear to ear). Sits 4.-1/2 inches high. It is in good vintage condition. The only flaw I could find is a small chip on the right side of the inner rim. The Shawnee Pottery Company, founded in Zanesville, Ohio, produced pottery from 1937 to 1961. Their works are highly collectible. The company filed the design patent for the Smiley Pig creamer or pitcher in the 1940s.
