Vintage 50’s Art Deco Vanity hand held beveled mirror Pearlized Frame & Handle

This mirror is in good condition with a few watermarks but free of any noticeable oxidation. Overall in Good Vintage Condition except for minor spot of discoloration of the pearlized back panel. Oxidization is normal for 1950’s - 1960’s mirrors because vintage mirrors are generally backed by a very thin sheet of reflective metal, like silver or gold, you can expect to notice some level of oxidization over time. Due to the accumulation of moisture seeping between the glass and the sheet of metal, oxidation will most likely be visible towards the bottom of the mirror. Any micro scratches or abrasions will also result in some amount of oxidization. Oxidization typically resembles dark blotches on the mirror, and is very rarely uniform. This Oval shaped beveled mirror is inset in the Celluloid and Bakelite frame with handle. The handle and frame are highlighted with a thick banding of rich Tortoise shell colored dark brown trim. Measures 13” Tall from the top of the frame to the base of it’s handle, and 5” across the back panel. This Vintage Vanity hand held mirror is made of celluloid plastic and bakelite was used for practical household items as well as decorative item. Celluloid is a thin plastic that has a unique look and feel and many Celluloid bakelite hand mirrors like this one, have a variety of features, such as beveled glass, pearlized backs, and light colored frames. 11-6-24
