Vintage 50s Ceil Chapman Dress, 1950s Velvet and Taffeta Party Dress M

This is a gorgeous 1950s designer party dress by Ceil Chapman, an American fashion designer known for dressing many of the film and TV legends of the time. She was a favorite of Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe and was known for the beautiful construction and flattering shapes of her designs. This full-skirted gown is made of black taffeta accented with abstract geometric velvet inserts all over the skirt. The bodice is simple and elegant and there are three straps on each shoulder for an additional detail. The bodice is boned for structure and the skirt is fully lined with a layer of tulle.
