Vintage 50s Satin Purple Butterfly Prosperity Cocktail Pencil Midi Dress, Sz. 6

Showstopping vintage 1950s party dress! Vibrant purple Duchess satin with ice blue exquisite floral butterfly and gold Chinese “Fu”/ Prosperity symbol embroidery. Lovely Chelsea collar on a wide V neckline, & an adorable accent I have not seen before, a rounded strap at the hip going from front to back. Still has its super cute original slim belt with a hook & eye and snap. Fastens with side metal zipper. In excellent vintage condition, belt has one alteration, (see photo), no flaws to note. Nicely tailored with a slim fit but the hem is still bigger than the hips, so much easier to walk in than a typical wiggle dress of the era. No tags and it seems to be custom made. Purchased in Amsterdam, but they originally purchased it in San Francisco- oh, if fabric could talk! Fits approximately like a modern 6,, but please see below measurements.
