Found at an estate sale of a professor who lived at Habitat 67, the modernist cube dwellings in Montreal.
His unit was packed with books, geological specimens, plants, and art.
This amazing pendant was part of the treasures I found there! It is a statement pendant in the style of Pal Kepenyes Jack Boyd Anne Dick David Yurman Putnam, unsigned. Measures approximately 3 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide. The base metal is copper, and has petrified, fossil wood with small plant or flower fossil spores throughout. Whoever the artist was, was very clever, and placed small copper dots in the spores that were empty. It truly is one of a kind, and is sturdy and in great shape. I wish I knew who the jeweler was, but this does date to the 1960's, when the brutalist movement was in full swing.
