Spectacular, all hand woven, natural wool overshirt from the highland region in Chiapas, Mexico. An Indigenous Maya garment made for the tourist market with incredible workmanship, this vintage piece features red and dark brown geometric brocade along with striped, multicolor weaving on the front in shades of sky blue, dark green, and olive, and the mandarin style collar features rich red, lime green, royal blue, bright yellow, cool gray, and plum purple diamond shape brocade. In a few spots throughout the piece you’ll see what look like flaws, where darker fibers have been woven into the fabric, along with slubs or small knots/bumps; these intentional irregularities are the result of the weaving process and add to the unique, one-of-a-kind charm of this piece.
